Dr. Eduoard Charles Godon
Paris, France
1854-1923



Dr. Godon was born on September 18, 1854 in Paris France. He attended local schools, but his studies were interrupted by the death of his father during the war of 1870 and the loss of his family's business due to a fire. In 1871 he started an apprenticeship in dental laboratory and continued his education in England. He founded the "Paris Dentiste Group" in 1879 and also founded the Paris Odontological Society in 1882. In 1894 her graduated as a Dental Surgeon from the Medical Faculty of Paris. He subsequently held positions as Director of the dental school in Paris, Chief of Clinics, Associate Professor and Professor of Clinical Dentistry.

Dr. Godon held many professional and scientific connections:

1899 - Secretary of the 1st International Dental Congress in Paris.
1893 - Vice-President of the World's Columbian Congress in Chicago.
1896 - Honorary President of the 3rd National Dental Congress in Paris.
1900 - President of the 3rd International Dental Congress in Paris. Founder and President of the Federation Dentaire Internationale.
1901 - Received Medical Degree from Faculty of Medicine in Paris.
1904 - Honorary President of the International Dental Congress in Saint Louis , Missouri (USA).
1912 - Recipient of the Miller Memorial prize medal from the F.D.I. Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.
1921 - Dr. Godon received the highest French distinction:
"Officer of Legion of Honor".

Dr. Eduoard Charles Godon , founder and President of the FDI, died in his home in Paris, France on May 20th, 1923.

The Academy is privileged and honored to induct Dr. Eduoard Charles Godon into the PFA International Hall of Fame of Dentistry.
