Oklahoma PFA Post Mortem

Section Chair William Goodman of Fairland, OK, our PFA International Trustee nominee, was an outstandingly gracious host. Even though he was extremely busy in organizing theODA affairs, the PFA Section events, and his personal business, he was ever present as a guide and convention mentor to the officers of the Academy. He was so cordial and pleasant that all the PFA dignitaries felt right at home inOklahoma and with all theODA representatives. Within an hour of starting the Centennial journey, the PFA entourage was on a first-name basis with everyone from the ADA President to the ODA members. Bill Goodman was there, always interacting to make our visit a most hospitable one.

His organization of the PFA Breakfast was expedient and to the point, without being overly drawn out. The large turnout of PFA members and the many new Fellows inducted give testimony to his efficiency and hard work.

So when Steve Hedlund of Iowa, the current PFA International Trustee for Region 10, was selected to run for PFA International Vice President, Bill Goodman was a logical choice from the Region to be nominated for Dr. Hedlund's position as International Trustee. Bill was an active producer for the PFA and had the respect of his peers.

Shortly after returning home, we were informed that our friend Bill Goodman had passed away from a massive heart attack suffered at home. The officers were in shock that such a vibrant, energetic person as he was had left us so abruptly. We are deeply saddened by his leaving us so soon in his golden years. We miss him terribly.

Bill Goodman, 75, had served as a Past President of the ODA and was the current President of the Oklahoma Dental Foundation. Services for Dr. Goodman were held May 22nd at the First Baptist Church in Miami, OK. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Oklahoma Dental Foundation are asked.

Condolences may be sent to the family at: The Goodman Family, 110 W. Connor, P.O. Box 233, Fairland, OK 74343-0233.
