We hope you have visited our Web site at www.fauchard.org and discovered the many changes that have been made since the new Web server and its features came online in October 2009. Take a look and explore the site when you have some time, and let us know what you think!
The new Web site design was a team effort. We give special thanks to four people who contributed many aspects of the new design: Matt Newberry, Geoffrey Reiff, Mandi Caffery, and Meag Tessman. They helped transform the site and update it for the 21st Century. New secure Member Services were added so that any Fellow with an e-mail address who is currently registered with the Central Office can have direct access to extended directory features. In addition, Leadership members can edit their own Section or Region pages to keep others posted on events, links, and news of interest.
The new Secure Certificate (https://) allows safe transmission of credit card numbers over the Fauchard.org Web site. However, only members who have registered their e-mail address with the Central Office will be able to log in and pay their Annual Dues online for 2011. Members will be able to reset their own password as needed. Fellows also may be able to contribute a donation to Academy Educational Programs at the same time that they pay their dues. The online link for this option will be at https://fauchard.org/services/.
During the next year, we plan to add more information technology support. We currently have the option of adding e-mail capabilities so the staff and officers can use the domain name "fauchard.org" as part of their official e-mail communications for the Academy and Foundation. Leadership will now be kept up to date with e-mail news updates from bulletin@fauchard.org. This feature is part of our efforts to create an expanding online presence for the Academy and the many activities it supports.
The Foundation of the PFA has upgraded its Web pages to accept online donations to the Foundation with a credit card, and they now provide an electronic grant application process using application forms that can be downloaded and filled in on a computer. Applicants then submit their completed form with any additional information via an e-mail attachment to the Foundation Office. The URL for this page is at http://fauchard.org/foundation/applications.html. For more information, contact Mark Stanley at wmanager@fauchard.org.
