In the spirit of celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the founding of our Academy, on September 13, 2011, a special ceremony was held in Mexico City with the support of the Ambassador of France, Mr. Daniel M. Parfait, in the residence of the French Embassy.
In this ceremony, a special Distinguished Service Award was given to the Minister of Health, Dr. Jose Angel Cordova, for his immediate action with the H1N1 virus and his active programs in favor of the Mexican population. A Special Appreciation Award was given in memory of Mr. Miguel Aleman Valdes, President of Mexico from 1946-1952, for his support of Mexican Dentistry. In addition, Special Gratitude Award was given to Ambassador Parfait for his generous hospitality. Twenty new PFA Fellows were inducted, along with two honorary members who were recognized for their support to the Mexico Section.
The ceremony was presided over by PFA President Hubert Ouvrard, PFA President-Elect Joseph C. Harris, Vice President Ernesto Acuña, and PFA Mexico Section Chair Dr. Federico Perez Diez. One hundred forty guests attended, and a wonderful reception was held at the completion of the event.
