The Annual Session in San Francisco was successful in many aspects. My contact at the ADA informed me the attendance for this meeting was 47 thousands, compared to 41 thousand who attended the Las Vegas Meeting. Prior to the Las Vegas, the meeting which was in Philadelphia had attendance of 29 thousand. Next year the ADA / PFA will meet in San Antonio TX and those dates are October 18-24. The Awards Luncheon was again a huge success with 113 guests attending to honor a cadre of outstanding recipients for the various Academies prestigious Awards.
The Business Meeting under the gavel of President Winspear ran very smoothly, and several housekeeping changes were made to facilitate the continued seam to seam operations of the Academy. I am pleased to report the Academy continues on sound financial ground. With the recent increase in postal rates, Elsevier publishers had to raise the rates for the mailing of Dental Abstracts to both U.S. and International Fellows. With this premise the Board had to increase the annual dues for 2008 to $125.00. The 2008 dues statements are being prepared and will be mailed to all Fellows in November.
The Academy's Leadership Directory is in the process of being update. If you have recent changes in your address and e-mail address, please send the new information to the Central Office.
