The West Virginia Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy held its annual awards ceremony and reception at the beautiful Erickson Alumni Center on the campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. The May 7th program began at 5:00 p.m. and concluded with a reception and dinner until 9:00 p.m.
It was an exciting time for the West Virginia Section as a NEW FELLOW, Dr. Keith Hildebrand, was installed. Dr. Hildebrand is a faculty member in the Department of Endodontics at the WVU School of Dentistry, is Past President of the WV Dental Association, and has been actively involved in numerous regional, state, and national committees. Dr. Hildebrand is also a Fellow in the American College of Dentists.

The West Virginia Section also honored two outstanding students at the ceremony. DoBin Choi was the recipient of the SENIOR DENTAL STUDENT CERFICIATE. DoBin graduated number one in her class, and was inducted into the Alpha Beta Chapter of OKU. DoBin has served in multiple leadership positions at the dental school and was also heavily involved in community service projects. MacKenzie Boyles was awarded the THIRD YEAR DENTAL STUDENT AWARD AND SCHOLARSHIP. MacKenzie is in the top 5% of her class and comes from a long line of dentists in the family. Both her mother and father are WVU School of Dentistry graduates, both of her grandfathers are dentists, as was her great-grandfather. MacKenzie has also very extremely involved in both leadership and community service activities at the school. An interesting side note is that her dad, Dr. Glen Boyles, received the Pierre Fauchard DENTAL STUDENT CERTIFICATE when he was a student.

The West Virginia Section also presented a SPECIAL APPRECIATION AWARD to Dr. Bill Queen. Dr. Queen is a faculty member in the Department of Prosthodontics at the WVU School of Dentistry. Dr. Queen has been a leader in his community, his state, and his profession. Dr. Queen has served on the Board of Education in his home city of Martinsburg, has served on multiple state committees including the Regional Education Service Agency, and currently is the President of the WVU School of Dentistry Alumni Association. Dr. Queen has been the keynote speaker at the Professionalism Assembly, the White Coat Ceremony and the WVU School of Dentistry Commencement program. Dr. Queen was also a classmate of our Dean, Dr. David Felton, in the post-doctorate program in Prosthodontics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

The last award presented was the Pierre Fauchard Academy DISTINGUISHED DENTIST AWARD. This award was given to Dr. Danny Joseph who has been a leader in organized dentistry in multiple areas. Dr. Joseph is an Orthodontist and has served as the President of the WV Association of Orthodontists, has served on the Executive Council of the West Virginia Dental Association for twenty years, and was its President in 2004. Dr. Joseph is a Fellow in the American and International College of Dentists and has served for multiple terms as Deputy Region of the WV Section of the International College of Dentists.
