Colorado Section Report

Posted May 28, 2014

2014 has been a busy and productive year for the Colorado Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In November 2013, Dr. Terry Brewick was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Academy after representing Colorado for the past six years as the Colorado Section Chair. Colorado now has co-chairs Dr. Ellie Sachs and Dr. Beth Kreider, both of whom have shown outstanding leadership in the Colorado Section of PFA and in the dental community of the greater metropolitan Denver area

The White Coat Ceremony at the School of Dental Medicine of the University of Colorado was held on January 17, 2014 and was attended by Region 10 Trustee Dr. Terry Brewick. White coats were presented to the Class of 2016 and the Inter- national Student Program Class of 2015.

A joint breakfast was held on Thursday January 23, 2014 by the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Denver Dental Convention. Dr. Beth Kreider and Dr. Terry Brewick represented the Colorado Section. The breakfast was, as usual, well attended. Dr. Brewick was presented the 2014 International College of Dentists-Colorado Leadership Award for his outstanding service and leadership to the profession of dentistry, and thanked the International College for this prestigious honor.

The Metropolitan Denver Dental Foundation was awarded a $5,000 grant by the Foundation of the Pierre Fauchard Academy at the New Orleans Annual Meeting. The grant was for the ‘Smile Again’ project, which provides dental care for survivors of domestic abuse. A benefit was also held for MDDF in the form of a dinner and wine pairing on March 6, 2014 at Parallel 17 in Denver, Colorado. The chairman of the ‘Feed the Foundation’ dinner was PFA Fellow Dr. Nicholas Poulos. Other committee members were PFA Fellows Dr. Maureen Roach, Dr. Jeremy Kott, Dr. Brandon Hall, and Dr. Pat Prendergast who is a former PFA Colorado Section Chair. Other committee members for the ‘Feed the Foundation’ event included Mrs. Andrea Lavene (Executive Director of MDDF), Mrs. Amy Boymel, and Director of Marketing and Communications of the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society Jason Mauterer. PFA Fellow Dr. Michael Poulos was very helpful in the planning of this event. The Colorado Section was formally represented by Trustee Dr. Terry Brewick and Colorado Section Co-chair Dr. Beth Kreider.
