May 30, 2014
DR. CORNELIU AMARIEI
A symposium was held March 16-22, 2014 on the Horizon cruise ship, which sailed from the Dominican Republic. This was organized by the Romanian section of Pierre Fauchard Academy together with the Romanian Association of Public OroDental Health (ARSPOD), and the main topic of the Symposium was “Dental medicine: Between real and virtual.”
Several members of the Romanian Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy gave presentations during the Symposium. Prof. Dr. Corneliu Amariei, Chair of the Romanian Section, gave a presentation on “Systems using virtual and augmented reality in the study of tooth preparations for indirect restorations.” Other topics included “Using haptic systems in medicine” by Prof. Dr. Cristina Bortun, Dean of Victor Babes Faculty of Timisoara; “Facial esthetics: between science and art” by Prof. Dr. Mariana Pacurar, Dean of Targu Mures Dental Faculty; “Actualities in medical ethics and odontology” by Prof. Dr. Angela Codruta Podariu of UMF Victor Babes, Timisoara; and, “Veneers presented as a possibility in emergency recovery and the reduction of partial edentulism” by Prof. Dr. Gabriela Ifteni of UMF Gr. T. Popa Iasi.
Eighty-one dentists participated in this Symposium, enjoying the combination of professional education with relaxation in an environment with landscapes that are very different to those in Romania.
The Romanian section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Romanian Association of Public OroDental Health also collaborated to organize the XIIIth Oral Health and Dental Management Congress in the Central and East European Countries that was held 22-25 May, 2014, at the Mamaia Resort in Constanta City, Romania.
