Founded in 1949 in Berlin, Germany, the company initially published only German-language journals and books in dentistry. The first English-language journal, Quintessence International, was launched in 1969 shortly before the opening of the US office in Chicago in 1973.
Dr. h.c. Walter Haase led the company in the early years of its development and his son, Dr. med dent h.c. Horst-Woulfgang Haase is still active in the business, working with his son, Christian Haase.
Today the company has publishing houses in 14 countries and licensing partners in another 7 countries. Publication partners oversee the translation of Quintessence books and journals into more than 15 languages. Additionally, Quintessence regularly sponsors continuing education seminars in various parts of the world, ranging from small-scale workshops to large international congresses that attract more than 50,000 participants. Meeting the needs of both the beginning dental student and the experienced practitioner, the company has published 61 professional journals; more than 1,500 book titles; and over 300 videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and multimedia programs worldwide by more than 3,000 authors.

2014 Dental Trade & Industry Recognition Award:

They also provide training technology and simulation workstations for dental schools. The Company draws upon global expertise from over 3,200 employees located around the world. Sirona products are widely used by dental practices, clinics, and laboratories in more than 135 countries.
Sirona is the global leader in the development of digital treatment modalities that drive improved workflow and ultimately better patient experiences.
Sirona believes it is crucial to improve dental health globally. This core value is demonstrated by their support of many children’s healthcare centers with donations of dental chairs and digital 3D x-ray equipment and by partnering with multiple Mission of Mercy (MOM) projects to provide digital x-ray and/or CEREC CAD/CAM equipment and expertise to aid in the treatment of low-income adults who have limited access to dental care.

Colgate-Palmolive is the founding and principal sponsor of the Global Child Dental Fund, which is carrying out the vision of the World Health Organization to eliminate cavities in children by 2026. They have also sponsored Operation Smile for over 15 years, an international children’s medical charity providing cleft palate surgeries.
Colgate’s commitment to the dental profession is no less notable, they provide numerous scholarships, grants and awards to students, educators and research fellows.
2012 Dental Trade & Industry Recognition Award:
Dr. Vincent J. Morgan - Bicon
Vincent J. Morgan, D.M.D., a 1970 graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, leads the prosthetic team at his private group practice, the Implant Dentistry Centre in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
Doctor Morgan is responsible for the development of the Integrated Abutment CrownTM (IAC) – a revolutionary screwless and cementless implant restoration.
After placing his first implants in 1970 and years of implant experience with many different systems, he was part of a group that purchased the Bicon Implant System from Stryker Instruments in 1994. Currently he serves as president of Bicon, LLC
