2018 Gold Medal Award Recipient:

Michael Cohen, DDS

Dr. Michael Cohen received his DDS from McGill University in Montreal and his MS and Certificate in Periodontics from the University of Washington. He has authored various articles on continuing education and given over 650 lectures and presentations internationally over the past 25 years. In 2008, he authored and edited a textbook entitled Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning: Principles, Design, Implementation (Quintessence, 2008).

The book is unique in that it looks at treatment planning through the eyes of 15 top clinicians around the world, each with their own individual perspective and philosophy on the subject. In 2011, Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning, Volume II: Comprehensive Case Studies was released to bring readers to the next important step—learning by repetition. This text includes the presentation of additional cases treated by master clinicians from every specialty. The Seattle Study Club® network is the “brain-child” of Dr. Cohen. An advanced educational organization, it consists of clinicians dedicated to raising the level at which their profession is practiced. This “university without walls” is comprised of over 250 Seattle Study Club affiliates around the world—Australia, Canada, Germany, India, Spain, Taiwan, and the United States. The Seattle Study Club® provides to its network a quarterly interdisciplinary treatment planning periodical—The Seattle Study Club Journal—as well as Expert Tip and Practice Inspiration videos, newsletters, lectures, conferences, symposia, and one-on-one guidance to each of its locally based study clubs.
