Hall of Fame Recipients & Induction Ceremonies History
The first inductee into the Hall of Fame was our namesake, Pierre Fauchard, in Paris on May 19th 1994. On June 21, 1996 a second ceremony was held in Paris to add the names of five(5) additional honorees into the Hall of Fame.

On October 16th, 1997 a formal dedication of the United States' first installation location of the Hall of Fame was held at the Dr. Samuel D. Harris, National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore Maryland. During the impressive ceremony two(2) additional members were officially inducted into the Hall of Fame.

These men were the cofounders of the world's first dental school.
The next induction was on June 17th 1998 in Paris France to honor Dr. Charles Eduoard Godon, the founder and president of the Federation Dentaire Internationale.
The tenth(10) inductee was Dr. Lindsay D. Pankey, Sr., on October 24, 1999 in Key Biscayne, Florida. Dr. Pankey was a dental visionary and founder of "The Pankey Institute".
The eleventh (11) inductee was Dr. James Branson Willmott which occurred on May 13th, 2000, in Toronto Canada. Dr. Willmott's singular most important contribution to the profession of dentistry in Canada was his visionary development of dental education.
The twelfth (12) inductee was Dr. Robert B. Shira, which occurred on October 15th , 2000, in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Shira is the first living inductee into the PFA International Wall of Fame of Dentistry.
The thirteenth (13) inductee was Dr. George M. Hollenback , which occurred on April 21, 2001 in Anaheim, California, at the Annual Luncheon of the Southern California Section of the PFA.
The fourteenth (14) inductee was Dr. Gerald H. Leatherman, which occurred on June 29th, 2001 in London England, at a formal dinner and induction ceremony of new fellows and Dr. Leatherman into the Hall of Fame, hosted by the United Kingdom Section of the Academy.
The fifteenth(15) inductee was Dr. Frederick MacKay, which occurred on June 11, 2004 at the Colorado Dental Association Meeting in Vail, Colorado. Dr. MacKay was a Practitioner, Researcher, Educator and Father of Communal Fluoridation
The sixteenth (16) inductee was Dr. Morinosuke Chiwaki, which occurred on October 30th, 2004 at the 35th Annual Meeting of the PFA Japan Section in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Chiwaki is considerd to be "True Leader of Modern Dentistry" in Japan.
The seventeenth (17) inductee was Dr. Thomas W. Evans, which occurred on May 12th, 2007 annual alumni reception for the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Evans was a Practitioner, Inventor, Benefactor, and Dentist to Royalty
The eighteenth (18) inductee was Dr. P. Raymond Begg, which occurred on June 1st, 2007 at the Annual Meeting of the PFA Australia Section in Adelaide, Australia. Dr. Begg was a Pioneer Orthodontist, Practitioner, Inventor, and Educator.
The nineteenth(19) inductee was Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmed, which occurred on September 14th, 2007 at the annual meeting of the PFA Indian Section formal dinner in New Delhi, India. Dr. Ahmed was an educator, statesman, author, as well as Nestor and Dean of Dentistry, First Distinguished Dentist of India. He is considered the ‘‘Father of Dentistry in India.’’
The twentieth (20) inductee was Dr. Maynard K. Hine, which occurred on October 19th, 2007 at Indiana University School of Dentistry, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Hine was an Innovative Pioneer in Dental Education.
UPDATE: On June 2nd, 2011, the second completely new installation of the PFA International Hall-of-Fame of Dentistry was unveiled at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in the United States. To mark the moving of the Hall of Fame installation, a special dedication in honor of Dr. Joseph Cappuccio also took place during the 75th Anniversary year of the PFA on June 2nd, 2011.
