Professor Nagwa Helmy El-Mangoury earned the BDS degree with honor from Cairo University. She completed one year of graduate orthodontic studies at Indiana University prior to transferring to Marquette University to join her husband. She earned both the MS (Orthodontics) and PhD (Double-majors: Educational Psychology & Orthodontics) degrees from ‎Marquette University, and the honorsry FDSRCSEd (Fellowship in Dental Surgery) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She is the co-author of the following book chapter: El-Mangoury NH, Mostafa HY, Mostafa RY. Anterior open-bite treatment through orthodontically driven corticotomy. In: Brugnami F, Caiazzo A, editors. Orthodontically driven corticotomy: tissue engineering to enhance orthodontic and multidisciplinary treatment. Wiley-Blackwell; 2015. p. 285-298. Dr. Mangoury maintained a tenured full professorship for 30 years. She was an Associate ‎Professor at Washington University prior to ‎returning to Egypt where she was awarded ‎the Egyptian State Prize for Biomedical ‎Research. While serving as the Chairperson at Cairo University, she established a modern evidence-based orthodontic clinic. Although she is US-trained at the MS and PhD levels, she was elected by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh as an examiner; a position she held for the past 18 years. Further, she was the 2010 Keynote Speaker for the Italian Orthodontic Society. In addition to private orthodontic ‎practice, Dr. Mangoury is a Member of the Editorial Review Board of the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, a Reviewer for the Angle Orthodontist, a Founding Member of the Editorial Board of the World Journal of Orthodontics, an Examiner ‎for the Royal College of Surgeons of ‎Edinburgh, a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.
