Dr. Cheri Newman is the Trustee for Region 4 of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. She is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, receiving a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene in 1989. After five years of working as a dental hygienist, she returned to school and obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1998. Cheri is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the Macomb County Dental Association, the International College of Dentists, Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and serves on the executive board of the Francis B. Society of Crown and Bridge Prosthodontics. She is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Each year she facilitates dental students during a week long outreach program for disabled adults at Bay Cliff Health Camp located in Big Bay, Michigan. She was also a volunteer for Michigan’s first Mission of Mercy program held in June 2013. Cheri has two daughters and lives with her husband, Jim, in Shelby Township, Michigan. She is active in her community and church. She enjoys biking, kayaking, walking and traveling.
