July 2022

Dr. Eric G. Jackson, Illinois-  recently completed his term as President of the Academy of Sports Dentistry at their 40th annual symposium held in Portland, Oregon.  In addition to fellowships in the PFA, ADI and ICD, Dr. Jackson has received the Mastership Award from the AGD and is the Team Dentist for the Chicago Bandits women's professional fast-pitch softball team.

ADA Award Recipient:

Kathleen O'Loughlin- Recipient of the 2021 ADA Distinguished Service Award. This award is the highest honor the ADA can bestow on a member.

Dr. O'Loughlin was also recently honored with the Samuel B. Shapiro Award for Chief Staff Executive Achievement from the Association Forum Foundation.

The award is the highest honor the organization bestows on an association professional and is presented for outstanding service and accomplishments in association/nonprofit management.

Dr. Alejandro M. Aguirre-Minnesota

Dr. Aguirre has been awarded the 2020 American Association of Endodontists Spirit of Service Lifetime Award. This award acknowledges a member who has demonstrated the true spirit of leadership either recently or over the years. Alan is an endodontist with Endodontic Associates Limited in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metropolitan area of Minnesota. He is a member or past member of local, state and national boards of different dental and volunteer organizations. Aside from being a skilled endodontist, his background also includes entrepreneurship, finance, business analytics, association management and leadership development, parliamentary procedure, diversity and inclusion, and consulting in all aspects of leadership especially on developing emerging leaders from traditionally underrepresented groups. His community service work includes Minnesota Mission of Mercy, where he has served as chair of the committee since its inception in 2011. 

Professor Ziad Al-Dwairi-Jordon

Dr. Al-Dwairi works as a Professor of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry at Jordan University of Science and Technology and a visiting Professor of Prosthodontics at City of London Dental School, (UK). Ziad is Associate Editor, Clinical  Oral Healthcare Research, BMC Oral Health Journal and on Editorial review board  member of Journal of Prosthodontics and Journal of Dentistry and Board member of The International Research Ethics Committee. He is Examiner for Part 2(MFDSRCSI) of the Royal college of Surgeons of Ireland, Examiner for Parts 1 and 2(MFDS) of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Member of the advisory team of Dooox (https://www.dooox.de/Advisory-Team). He is also Jordan's Representative at OSAP (Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures). Member of the International Advisory board for Edorium Journals. In 2020, he won the Award of Excellence in Prosthodontics from Global Outreach Medical and Health Association/India.

Dr. Lisa Bentley-Ontario, Canada

Dr. Bentley, who practices in Mississauga, ON has been elected by the Ontario Dental Association Board of Directors as its new Vice-President. Lisa is a Past President of the Halton-Peel Dental Association and former Chair of the Economics Advisory Committee. She is a fierce advocate for Ontario dentists and for the ethical practice of dentistry. Ontario’s dentists are privileged to have her in their corner and leading them into the years ahead. The Pierre Fauchard Academy is also fortunate to have Lisa on its Board of Trustees representing Canada. This board also sees Lisa moving up. A true leader with a heart!

Dr. Douglas Berkey-Colorado

Dr. Berkey is the 2020 recipient of the Distinguished Scientist Award for Geriatric Oral Health from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR).  Douglas serves as Editor-in-Chief of Dental Abstracts, the PFA publication and is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine (UCSDM) where he served as the Chair of the Department of Applied Dentistry for over a decade and as a faculty member for 28 years. He has recently enjoyed serving as a volunteer dentist in Cambodia, Kenya, India, and Nepal with GDR, a non-profit organization.

Dr. Dave Boden-Florida

Dr. Boden is the Vice President of the Florida Dental Association. Dave, in addition to serving as the ADA Delegate 17^th district, is a member of the ADA Council on Dental Education.

Dr. Steven A. Cohn-Victoria

Dr. Cohn was honored as a Member of the Order of Australia (General Division) “for his significant service to dentistry, particularly to endodontology”. The Order of Australia is an “order of chivalry”, established in 1975 by Queen Elizabeth II, to be “the preeminent means by which Australia recognizes the outstanding and meritorious services of its citizens”.

Dr. Craig W. Herre-Kansas

Dr. Herre is currently 1st Vice President and an elected officer of the American Dental Association and past president of the Kansas Dental Association.

Dr. Arnold Jacobson-Missouri

Dr. Jacobson received the Greater St. Louis Dental Society’s Gold Medal Award at the Society’s Annual Installation of Officers and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, January 25, 2020, in recognition and appreciation of his service to the profession of dentistry. Arnold is currently serving as the Regent of District 6 of the ICD.

Dr. Anand Marya-Cambodia

Dr. Marya is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Orthodontics at University of Puthisatra, Phnom

Penh, Cambodia since March 2017; a Senior Orthodontic Specialist at University of Puthisatra Dental Clinic, Phnom Penh since May 2017; a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Instructor in the Post Graduate department of Orthodontics at International University, Phnom Penh, Cambodia since March 2018; a Specialist in Orthodontics and Dento-cranio-facial Orthopedics at Pachem dental clinic since April 2018 and is also working as a Senior Course Instructor at the A-PLUS orthodontic mentorship program since January 2018.

Dr. Alan Nerwich-Victoria

Dr. Nerwich is currently Secretary of the IFEA (International Federation of Endodontic Associations). Alan has been serving on the Board of Directors for the past 8 years.

Dr. Xavier Riaud-France

Dr. Riaud received the International Research Award on Science, Health and Engineering in Chennai India, January 2020. Xavier is currently in the process of publishing a new book, his 32^nd.

Dr. Jeanne Craig Sinkford-Maryland

Dr. Sinkford is a Professor and Dean Emerita Howard University College of Dentistry and Senior Scholar in Residence (Ret) The American Dental Education Association. On July 18, 2019, Jeanne received the Legend Award for timeless service to the profession of dentistry, the education of professionals, the community of man, and the perpetuation of the species, from The National Dental Association. It is the first time this award has been presented.

Dr. Nancy Auyeung-Western Provinces

Dr. Auyeng is a board member of the National Dental Examining Board of Canada and the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada. Nancy is the Director of Continuing Professional Development for Dentistry & Dental Hygiene at the University of Manitoba and has served as the President and Chair of Manitoba Dental Association.

Dr. Michael Berry-Missouri, Central USA

Dr. Berry has been serving as President-elect of the Missouri Dental Association and was inducted as President in November 2019 at the House of Delegates.

Dr. Tom Blake-Indiana

Dr. Blake has been reelected for a second term as treasurer for the Indiana Dental Association. Tom is a Co-Founder and President of Sonrisas Siempre a 501c3 organization serving the orphans and underserved citizens of Honduras. This will be the 20th anniversary of the trip!

Dr. S. Jay Bowman-Michigan

Dr. Bowman developed and teaches the Straightwire course at The University of Michigan, is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Saint Louis University, an Assistant Clinical Professor at Case Western Reserve University, a Visiting Clinical Lecturer at Seton Hill University and Milton Sims Visiting Professor at the University of Adelaide.  He received the Angle Research Award in 2000, the Alumni Merit Award from Saint Louis University in 2005, and the Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation Merit Award in 2017.  He is co-author/editor of the book:  Mini-Implants in Orthodontics:  Innovative Anchorage Concepts along with over 150 other book chapters and publications.  

Dr. Anastasia Kelekis-Cholakis-Western Provinces

Dr. Kelekis-Cholakis is the Dean of the College of Dentistry, University of Manitoba.

Dr. Robert Dakin-Kansas

Dr. Rob Dakin set up the first dental clinic among the Ilwana people by invitation of their King in northeast Kenya, July 2019. The intent was to establish permanent full-time oral healthcare in the future. He also set up the first clinic in a remote area in northwest Kenya among the Turkana. Dr Dakin has set up multiple portable clinics in remote Albanian villages working with Albanians and Roma (Gypsy). He has set up multiple temporary clinics in Turkey for earthquake relief. Dr. Dakin has also set up dental clinics in villages and orphanages in Kazakhstan, as well as villages and orphanages in Liberia. To establish permanent full-time healthcare in the Mathare Valley slum of Nairobi Kenya, he was able to present a proposal to the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Dental Officer attached to the Kenyan government, which resulted in a dental clinic being built in the Mathare Valley slum. Dr. Dakin has presented multi-disciplinary proposals and seminars in Fiji and Canada concerning leveraging one’s resources to help undeveloped or underdeveloped regions in the world, using dentistry as his example platform to access these regions. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, as well as PFA and is involved on a local and state level of the Kansas Dental Association. His wife, Karen, although not a dentist, has been a vital part of many of Dr. Dakin's dental missions. Robert has been active in dental missions for over twenty-five years, and has just completed his thirtieth dentally related mission

Dr. Ronald E. Fritz-Southern California

Dr. Fritz now lives in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Ron is mostly retired but is involved full time in dental missions, particularly Mexico and Latin America.  He was honored by the ICD in Honolulu last year as Distinguished Humanitarian of the Year

Dr. Yoshiro Fujii-Japan

Dr Fujii is an Associate Professor, since 2018, of the International Gollege of Acupuncture and Electro-therapeutics. Yoshhiro has publisher extensively on acupuncture and electro-therapeutics in dentistry.

Dr. Roger Hess-Ohio

Dr. Hess was awarded the Marvin Fisk Humanitarian award by the Ohio Dental Association in 2017 and accepted the Access to Care Award also by the ODA this past October 2019, on behalf of Medworks where he serves as Director of Dental Affairs. Medworks is a not for profit organization serving the needs of the uninsured and underinsured in NE Ohio providing free medical, dental and vision care.

Dr. Reinhard Hickel-Germany

Dr. Hickel has been the  dean of medical faculty (including dentistry) at University of Munich  since 2015. The medicial faculty is ranked No. 1 in Germany and in the top 10 in Europe. Reinhard also sits on the board of directors of the University Hospital since 2013.

Dr. Linda Himmelberger-Pennsylvania

Dr. Himmelberger is the American Dental Association (ADA) trustee from the Third district, the state of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Guy Lafrance-Quebec, Canada

Quebec dentists have elected, by universal suffrage, Dr. Guy Lafrance as President of their professional order. The role of the Quebec Order of Dentists (ODQ) is the protection of the public. Dr. Lafrance has officially taken office on November 22, 2019 for a four-year term. He succeeds Dr. Barry Dolman, who was President of the ODQ from 2011 to 2019.

Dr. Jonathan H. Lang – Quebec, Canada

 Dr. Lang is Assistant Director of Les Journées Dentaires Internationales du Québec, possibly the largest English/French dental convention in the world with a total attendance of close to 13,000 delegates annually. In 2017, Jonathan was elected as a Municipal Councillor for the Town of Mount Royal, a municipality, on the island of Montreal, with over 20,000 residents.

Dr. Anand Marya-Cambodia

Dr. Marya shall be inducted this year into our Academy. Anand is a faculty member and a senior resident specialist in the department of Orthodontics at University of Puthisastra, Phnom Penh. He has scientific papers published in the fields of Orthodontics and Forensic Odontology in various international and national journals. He has also authored various eBooks to help promote dental awareness.

Dr. Dzon Nguyen-Washington

Dr. Nguyen is the President Elect of the Washington AGD, his term is from the Fall 2018 to Fall 2020.

Dr. Paul O’Dwyer-Ireland

Dr. O’Dwyer was elected to the position of trustee for Europe of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, September 2019. In 2018, Paul was appointed Member of Adjunct Faculty, Institute of Leadership, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Dr. Robert M. Pick-Chicago

Dr. Pick is a member of the attending staff of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the Northwestern University’s Medical School. Bob is recognized by Dentistry Today as one of the top 200 Leaders in Continuing Education and has won this honor all 21 years that the award has been given. Most recently Dentistry Today listed him as a Consulting Leader. As an official spokesperson for the American Dental Association, Dr. Pick has frequently been featured in the media including: Good Morning America, Fortune, Self, Wall Street Journal, Glamour, McCalls, MORE, Popular Mechanics, Cosmopolitan, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, L.A. Times, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, Fox News, Ladies Home Journal, Men’s Health, others, and even The National Enquirer!

Dr. Patrick L. Roetzer-Northern California

Dr. Roetzer was recently appointed to Associate Professor at UOP/Dugoni. Patrick has been a Western Regional Examining Board Grader (WREB) for 5 years.

Dr. Rodrigo Romano-Florida

Dr. Romano was elected in 2019 as the Treasurer of the Florida Dental Association. He is the current ICD-17th Regent of Florida and active President of the Florida Association of Periodontists. Rodrigo is the immediate past Chair of Membership for the American Dental Association

George J. Stratigopoulos-California

Dr. Stratigopoulos has served as President of the San Diego County Dental Society, as a Trustee for the California Dental Association, as Chairman of the ADA Committee on the New Dentist, as Chairman of the ADA Council on Dental Practice, as Regent of the American College of Dentists, as  Director for The  Dentists’ Insurance Company and as Chairman of the Board of Delta Dental of California.

Dr. Michael Sullivan-Western Provinces

Dr. Sullivan is the chair of the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation.

Dr. Don Swatman-Northern California

Dr. Swatman at 85 years young is still giving to the community. Don still does all the food acquisitions and helps with the preparation for the Modesto Rotary homeless breakfasts. He ended his Presidency of the neighborhood Home owner's association last year but still sits on a couple of subcommittees. He started and named the UCSF Medical center newspaper the SYNAPSE in 1957 and it is the only one to stand the test of time. Don was on the Board of governors of the large UCSF student union, chairman of the Board of the student faculty mediation Board and UCSF student VP.

Dr. Peter Trager-Georgia

Dr. Trager was presented with the Award of Merit by the Georgia Dental Association, the highest honor it can bestow on any member at ceremonies held during the GDA annual meeting in July 2019.

Dr. Carl Tremblay-Quebec, Canada

Dr. Tremblay was elected to the Presidency of the Association des Chirugiens Dentistes du Quebec, October 2019. Carl has served for many years on its board of directors.

Dr. Eric Alforja-Philippines

Dr. Alforja is the Dean of the college of dentistry at the University of Perpetual Help.

Dr. Stephen Bermudez Almonte-Philippines

Dr. Almonte is currently the General Chairman of the 110th PDA Annual Convention and the

President-Elect of the Philippine Dental Association. He shall assume the Presidency for 2019-2020.

Dr. Jenny Ball-Australia

Dr. Jenny Ball is the President of the Australian Dental Association, WA Branch, since October 2018.

Dr. Lynne Barbour-Missouri

Dr. Barbour is the 1st female Speaker of the House for Missouri Dental Association

Dr. Theresa Cheng-Washington

Dr. Cheng founded the non-profit, “Everyone for Veterans”, which connects dentists around the country to provide dental care for low-income combat veterans in their communities. Theresa is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. 

Dr. Terry Brewick-Colorado

Dr. Brewick is our current president-elect and shall be inaugurated as the International PFA president at our annual meeting to be held this upcoming September. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the joint FDI-ADA meeting in San Francisco.

Dr. Roldan Concepcion-Philippines

Dr. Concepcion has been the Executive Director - University of Perpetual Help, Binan, Laguna, Philippines, since December 5, 2005. Roldan is also the Dean, College of Dentistry, University of Perpetual Help, Binan, Laguna, Philippines, since August 1999.

Dr. John D. Dinka-Michigan

Dr. Dinka has been serving as the vice president of the UDM School of Dentistry Alumni Board since June 2018. John also serves on the Council Advisory Council, Great Lakes Field Service Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Dr. Samuel O. Dorn-West Virginia

Dr. Samuel Dorn is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Endodontics at the WVU School of Dentistry.  Samuel is a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and has served as President of both the American Association of Endodontists and the International Federation of Endodontic Associations. Dr. Dorn has lectured extensively throughout the United States, Asia, Europe and Latin America. He has authored many articles and textbook chapters including the chapter on Emergency Treatment in the latest edition of Pathways of the Pulp.

Dr. Amanda Fitzpatrick-Missouri

Dr. Fitzpatrick serves as a Trustee for Missouri Dental Association

Dr. Sandy Ghattas-NSW

Dr. Sandy Ghattas received a fellowship into the International Academy for Dental Facial Esthetics (FIADFE) in 2017, as well as a fellowship for the International College of Continuing Dental Education (FICCDE) in 2018. Sandy is the Senior Clinical Doctor at Full Face Orthodontics and Lead Clinical Instructor for EODO (Excellence in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics). He is also the representative for the International College of Continuing Dental Education (ICCDE) in Australia. Outside dentistry, Sandy is actively involved at his local church, St Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church, Australia, as a church servant as well as an academic tutor for Science and English to the church congregation.

Dr. David Goerz-Western Provinces

Dr. Goerz serves as President and board chairman for the Manitoba Dental Association.

Dr Lance Grenevicki-Florida

Dr. Grenevicki serves as the AAOMS delegate (Florida). Lance was the past chief of medical staff Wuesthoff Medical Center (Melbourne, FL), immediate past-chief of staff Melbourne Regional Medical Center (FL) and serves presently as the Brevard County delegate to the Florida Medical Association. 

Dr. Shipra Gupta-India

Dr. Gupta was presented with both the I2OR Outstanding Researcher award and the I2OR Distinguished Educator award by the International Institute of Organized Research, India, for 2018.

Dr. Annalieza Hicarte-Philippines 

Dr. Annalieza Hicarte serves as the chair, community dentistry program, University of Perpetual Help system dalta auditor- Royal Institution Dentistry Singapore.

Dr.Karin Irani-Southern California

Dr. Irani was elected by the San Fernando Valley Dental Society as a trustee on the California Dental Society's Board of Trustees. Also, Karin serves as the Chair of ADA Council of Membership, 2019. She also co-founded the Veterans Smile Day program, a program that has been active since 2013 to provide Free dental care to veterans nationwide.

2017 MSDA Humanitarian of the year award, 2018 Catholic Charities Volunteer of the year Award, 10 years as Editor of MSDA, 34 years of writing and lecturing on Nutritional Science

Dr. Courtney Lavigne-Massachusetts

Dr. Lavigne was recently accredited through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Rudy Liddell-Florida

As of June 2019, Dr. Liddell will serve as the president of the Florida Dental Association. In October, Rudy will be installed as the chair of the ADA’s Council on Dental Practice. He currently serves as an ADA delegate. 

Dr. VARUN MENON P-India

Dr. Varum is now a Fellow of the International Board for the Certification of Specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FIBCSOMS). In 2018 he received the Doctors choice Award for Best Reconstructive Surgeon National and State level, Young Dental Researcher Award in Kerala state and the Sushruta Award for Young Dental Achiever of the Year.

Dr. Charles H Palumbo-Michigan

Dr. Palumbo is the Dental Director for the Fountain Clinic in Marshall, Michigan, a 501-3C organization providing medical and dental care for under and uninsured patients. Charles is also secretary-treasurer for the Michigan Dental Association’s Political Action Committee.

Dr. Pravir Patel-Ontario

Dr. Patel is the current president of the Health Outreach, https://healthoutreach.ca/page-647526  Health Outreach is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing health services including public health, to impoverished people in remote areas of developing countries.

Dr. Olaf Plotzke-Ontario

Dr.Plotzke was elected to the Board of Directors of Merrymount Children’s Centre and late last year (2018) received the Schulich Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry Alumni Distinction Award.

Dr. Jani Pornicincula-Philippines

Dr. Jani Pornicincula is the vice president for internal affairs, Royal Institution Dentistry Singapore.

Dr. Tony Porter-North Carolina

Dr. Porter currently serves as a Delegate to the ADA, and Tony is current President of the North Carolina Dental Society.

Dr. Xavier Riaud-France

Dr. Riaud published his 30th book called “DNA, teeth and diseases”. Xavier was also elected as a full member of the French Academy of Dental Surgery. In June 2019 he was awarded the Excellence in Dental Public Health Award, form India. He also received a Lifetime Membership from the Science Range Publications (USA) for his work.

Dr. Michael K Rollert-Colorado

Dr. Rollert is currently the President of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.  The ADSA is a non-for-profit society of 5000+ members that promotes safe and effective patient care for all dentists who have an interest in anesthesiology, sedation, and the control of anxiety and pain.  Colleagues can explore the website at www.adsahome.org. Michael is also Vice-Chair of the Dental Patient Safety Foundation, the first licensed Patient Safety Organization (PSO) in dentistry.  The mission of the foundation is to improve the safety and quality of dental care in the United States. Colleagues can explore the website at www.dentalpatientsafety.org.

Dr. Martin L. Schroeder-Pennsylvania

Dr. Schroeder retired from the active practice of dentistry, April of 2016, and in 2017 Martin received his second Life Long Learning and Service Recognition Award from the AGD. After that 2017 annual meeting, he was asked to serve again on the PACE (Program Approved Continuing Education) Council of the AGD.  He had served on NSAP (National Sponsor Approval Program, the precursor of PACE) from 1998 to 2000 and became the Committee Chair of the newly named and defined PACE program from 2000-2005. Martin continues to serve our profession, even in retirement.

After 11 years of being V.P. and President of the Greater NY Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Teitelbaum is now its Immediate Past President. Michael received his master’s from the AGD and became a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.  For Michael his most cherished moment of the last year was that his daughter was accepted into a combined 7-year college/dental school program, giving her the potential to not only be a 3rd generation dentist, but a 3rd generation member of the PFA! WOW!

Dr. Gehani is the chair of orthodontics at two prominent New York Hospitals. Rekha is a past Chair of the New York State Board of Dentistry and currently serves as Chair of the American Dental Association Council of Dental Education and Licensure. As well as being a delegate from New York State to the ADA House of Delegates, Rekha is also a Board member for the Medical Liability Mutual Insurance company in New York.

-Dr. Cheryl Goldasich-Southern California

Dr. Goldasich was recently promoted to Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry by the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. Cheryl is the Chair of the Part Time Faculty Assembly and just returned from Chicago where she was a delegate for the AGD House of Delegates representing her constituent. Since becoming a PFA fellow she has also been honored into fellowship of the ICD and ACD.

Appointed as Associate Clinical Professor at Warwick University in the UK from 2006 to 2009 and from 2011 to 2014.

-Dr. Dan Haas-Ontario

In October 2018, at the International Federation of Dental Anaesthesiology Societies conference in Nara, Japan, Dan was presented with that society's highest recognition: the Horace Wells Award. This is the first time a Canadian has received this recognition, which honours international accomplishment in the field of anaesthesiology in dentistry.

Dr. Havekorst is presently serving as Dental Director for the Sonoma Valley Community Health Center in Sonoma Ca.

-Dr. Carole Hanes-Georgia

In 2018 Carole retired from the full-time faculty of the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University as the Associate Dean for Students, Admissions and Alumni. She has returned to the part-time faculty as the Associate Dean for Alumni.

This year she has also become a member of the Medical College of Georgia Foundation Board of Trustees and the Regent from Regency 3 of the American College of Dentists. 

-Dr. Gary Heyamoto-Washington

Dr. Heyamoto is the Director of Continuing Education for the WA AGD as well as its Clinical Director. Gary also serves on the AGDF board to fight Oral Cancer along with the WA State Oral Cancer Board. He was recognized by the Snohomish County Dental Society as their "Citizen of the Year for 2018".

-Dr. Albert Indresano-Northern California

Dr. Indresano is the President of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He retired from clinical practice last June at the University of the Pacific, and now holds the title of Professor Emeritus. Two years ago, Albert was in the first class of single degree OMSs to be inducted into the American College of Surgeons.

-Dr. Anthony Lake-Victoria VIC

Dr. Lake fully retired June 30, 2018. In 2017 Tony was awarded the Distinguished Service Awards from the University of Adelaide Alumni and the Australian Dental Association (South Australian Branch) and made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). These were related to Forensic Odontology service in Disaster Victim Identification, as a long-term Board member of the Journal of Forensic OdontoStomatogy, past Secretary of the International Organisation in Forensic OdontoStomatology, 47 years of honorary service to the University, to the Dental Disciplinary Tribunal and the Australian Dental Association SA Branch.

-Brigadier-General (ret) Victor J. Lanctis-Ontario

Dr. Lanctis served as the chief of the Royal Canadian Dental Corps in the early 1990s. He continues extending his service as the Colonel Commandant of this same Corps. Victor is a Life Fellow of the PFA and a Master Fellow and former National (2000) as well as International (2002) President of the ICD.

-Dr. Janet Leith-Ontario

Dr. Leith is the new PFA section co-chair for Ontario. Janet currently chairs the Health Policy and Government Relations Committee and the Advocacy Task Force for the Ontario Dental Association.

-Dr. Frances Amanda Maplethorp-British Columbia

Dr. Maplethorpe has been serving on the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Orthodontics representing North America since 2010 and has been the current Vice President since 2015. She shall be holding that position until the fall of 2020.

Presently Joe holds 2 associate & 3 adjunct active faculty appointments.

Has given over 1000 presentations spanning 22 countries and has the PACE designation.

He was awarded the best speaker award for the Chicago midwinter dental meeting designated as the Gordon Christiansen award.

He was awarded the Pioneer in Dentistry Award from the American University of Beirut.

He is the lead author in the textbook entitled Applications of the Neutral Zone in Prosthodontics 2017, Publisher Wiley Blackwell.

Joe has compiled close to 120 hours of video CDE online content for the ADA & other entities of various speakers

Dr. Prestie is the new section chair for the Western Provinces. From 2009-2017, Michael served on council for the College of dental surgeons of Saskatchewan, finishing as its president. In 2017, he joined the Canadian Dental Association Board and continues to serve.

Dr. Romanson is the new PFA section co-chair for Ontario. Paul has recently been elected as a Director for the Merrymount Children’s Centre.

-Dr. Laura Marie Romito-Indiana

Dr. Romito was the 2018 recipient of the Indiana University Teaching Award. Laura was also presented with the National Academies of Practice (Dentistry Academy) Distinguished Fellow Award, May 2018.

-Dr. Jeffrey Schur-Washington

Dr. Schur has recently become the treasurer for the Seattle-King County Foundation. He is also a University of Washington Department of Orthodontics Affiliate Assistant Professor, and a Washington State Dental Association Delegate.

Recently elected Secretary for the American Association of Dental Boards at the last AADB meeting. He is a past president of the American College of Legal Medicine and of the Onondaga County (NYS) Dental Association.

This past year Dr. Selnes was again awarded the teaching award at U of T and he is currently on line as VP for the CAO and Chair of CAO

-Dr. Devinder Preet Singh-India

Dr. Singh received the Profile of the Month Award given by the IDA (Indian Dental Association) in 2018 and The Best Orthodontist of the Year Award 2018 given by the Indian Healthcare Awards

-Dr.Jeanne Craig Sinkford-Maryland

Dr. Sinkford was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science Degree from The University of Michigan at Commencement April 28, 2018. Her citation: Nationally and internationally renowned as a dental educator, administrator, researcher and clinician. Jeanne was the first woman dean of an American dental school and led Howard University College of Dentistry from 1975- 1991. She is a respected educator, academic leader and social justice advocate. She has published more than 100 journal articles, training manuals and reports and is a member in the National Academy of Medicine.

-Dr. Drew Smith-Ontario

Currently serves as President-Elect for the Canadian Section of the ICD. He received the Angela Armitt Gold Medal from Western University for the highest GPA for a graduating part time student. He also was awarded an ACD Scholarship from the Cecilia Dows Fund, to attend the Leadership Program at Kellogg’s School of Management, Northwestern University.
