I write this article just a few weeks following our Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA)
Annual Meeting, which was held in Houston, Texas. Our Board of Trustees dealt
with many issues facing the Academy during the meeting. We also had an Election
of Officers which I will highlight below. The Annual Meeting concluded with our first
PFA Gala.

It is said that “time flies when you are having fun.” This seems to hold true for us at the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Now that we are nearing the last quarter of the year, we remain committed to achieving more, to aligning our efforts in advancing the dental profession by expanding our reach, and to sharing best practices to strengthen our networks and improve the oral health of the communities we serve.

Leading to inspire future leaders
The mark of a good leader lies in his or her ability to lead by example. In the history
of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, this has been a common characteristic among our
leadership and members. When I was elected as the Academy’s International President, I knew that this was not going to be an easy job. It would entail a lot of time and effort to ensure that we meet our targets and that we continue to remain aligned with our goals and objectives. One of these is to recognize and develop outstanding leaders in our profession, worldwide. It has been clear throughout my years of serving as an active member of our organization that communication is still key in ensuring that we remain on track and that we get things done, to benefit the Academy and the public that we serve.

Looking Ahead
When the Pierre Fauchard Academy was founded in 1936 by Dr. Elmer S. Best, his mission was clear: To recognize and develop outstanding leadership in our profession, internationally. Fast forward to today, the Academy continues to pursue the goals of our founder, but with renewed commitment to serve and to further advance the profession to benefit our members and the communities we serve around the world. For more than eight decades now, we have proactively addressed concerns surrounding the dental practice, offered solutions, and achieved milestones.

It has been my distinct honor to be your International President for the last 25 months. Many accomplishments have been achieved by the talented men and women on the Pierre Fauchard Academy Board of Trustees with whom I had the privilege of working. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submission of photos and articles about Section activities are accepted for possible publication in the Dental World. Please contact the Editor for more information.
Photos submitted must be large and high enough resolution for printing, usually the minimum size is 4" x 6" and 600dpi resolution at 22 picas wide (after cropping) if sent electronically, and compressed JPEG photo images (.JPG ) are best for sending electronically. Sending actual photo prints on photographic paper via regular postal mail is also accepted.
